This place seems low on most peoples radar, but the food is really delicious. They also have a nice garden, and you can get in almost anytime.

A few items to look out for are the Pear, nut, and cheese salad. Their pizzas are also great. I like the signature pizza, with onions and prosciutto. Lastly, the focaccia tartufata, a copy of a popular manhattan pizzeria, is great.

Good cocktails, beer and wine as well. Located on Grand street between Bedford and Driggs.

Dressler

Dumont and Dumont Burger's sister restaurant, Dressler, is located on Broadway between Bedford and Driggs. The restaurant is beautifully designed and the more upscale of the three locations. I have been here for dinner which was great, and recently tried it for brunch. The prices are much more reasonable, and the signature dish "Dressler," a sort of dressed up salmon benedict is yummy (pictured here).

No booze served till noon at brunch. Not that that should be a big problem. Enjoy some coffee first if you get there early.

Great homemade pastries as well.

Blackbird parlor

I have to admit... I find this place a little intimidating from the outside. Once you get over it though, its truly beautiful on the inside, and the food is great. Try the greek yogurt with fixings for breakfast, or stop in for a pastry and coffee to go.

Its also one of the few places in Williamsburg you can order an ice cream sundae (and not a non fat yogurt one).

Kings Pharmacy

If you live in Williamsburg, you will probably get to know Kings Pharmacy pretty well. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside its as good as eckerds or duane reade. You can get your prescriptions filled here, as well as picking up random goods from batteries to hanes t-shirts, velcro, cleaning supplies, toilitries, etc. If you are in a pinch and need something, check in here.

Sunny Beaches

Often overlooked, at least by me, is the Burg's close proximity to the beach. As of late I try to venture as often as possible to Coney Island for a little sun and fun. Take the L to the Q, or the G to the F, and get there in about an hour. Also, for a little more peace and quiet, get off the train a stop early at Brigton beach.

Don't forget to pick up a hot dog at nathans famous on your way back to the train. There are also plenty of funnel cakes do tide you over.

So if you are new to the area or just don't know about this yet, Google makes a great map for New Yorkers. The map shows subways and streets, which "google maps", yahoo maps, and the mta subway map do not show you.

Nita Nita. Located at North 8th and Wythe, this place has great tapas and cocktails. Don't forget also, that they do happy hour from 4-7 and another one from midnight to close. While the tapas can get expensive, each plate is pretty inexpensive, and the food is really great. A personal favorite is the pear cocktail, and the soup of the day is always great as well. The best thing on the menu... the outdoor garden with plenty of seating for large parties.

Also, I noticed that one Monday nights they do tex mex night... a mexican dinner and a tecate for 5.00. great deal.

DuMont Burger

I am a burger girl and this place does it the best. I even prefer Dumont Burger to the dressed up Dumont which sits right outside the Lorimer L stop.

Located on Bedford Ave between S1st and Grand, Dumont burger is amazing. Get the burger with fries, and enjoy the glass bottle cokes in this bar style seated restaurant. The mac and cheese is also incredible, and I have never been disappointed. If its too crowded for you or you want some more elbow room, they DELIVER!
Ckickpea burger is a great alternative as well.

***as an update I have to say, that even amidst this recession I am really disappointed in the extreme price increase that has gone on over at dumont. Looks like this is more special occasion than ever day burger joint now. They do seem to have added some tasty looking milkshakes though...

helpful hint: order the smaller portion of mac and cheese not listed on the menu... tons of mac still, and less coin

Cheeks Bakery

Cheeks Bakery, located on Metropolitan Avenue.

I was extrememly excited to see a cute bakery dressed up in pink and brown, and extremely disappointed to be greeted by the grumpiest baker I have ever seen. If you are going to make a pink bakery named cheeks, try to sell your cupcakes with a smile. While I do love the chocolate pecan pie, and I can rate the cupcakes a 5 out of 10, I can't take feeling like I am interrupting and unwelcomed every time I walk in there.
